The Greater Birmingham Fiber Guild
About our group.
Thanks for visiting THE GREATER BIRMINGHAM FIBER GUILD. We are a group of fiber enthusiasts from Birmingham, Alabama.
Our meetings are on the second Saturday of every month. We also have small interest groups that meet once a month to spin, weave, knit and just talk.
Please check the monthly meetings to see where we will be meeting. We often meet at the Alabama Veteran's Memorial Foundation park off I459. We also have picnics and workshops in various places and sometimes meet at the Birmingham Museum of Art.

Needle Felted Jewelry
Our April meeting will be held at the Alabama Veteran's Memorial Park. If you are going East on 459 go to the Liberty Park exit, take a right, go left across 459 to the end of a short street. The back of Mt. Brook HS is on the left, AVMF is on the right. Turn right and go up the hill on a long drive that ends at the parking lot. We will be meeting in the small building at the end of the parking lot.
Debbie is going to show us how to do needle felted jewelry:
I will be teaching Needle-Felted Jewelry at the April meeting. I am looking forward to seeing all of you and hope you can make the date to come. Because kits are being made up, I will need to get a head count of how many of you will be able to attend. If you could let me know ASAP at my email or call, that will help me (check your directory for information).
There will be a $5.00 fee for the kits, payable at the guild meeting, if you are participating.
You will need to bring these addtional supplies for the program:
SUPPLIES
36"- 40" felting needles - available in packages at - Knit Noveau, Sheep to Shawl, Hancocks and Hobby Lobby. You will need at least 2 needles. The Clover Felting Tool can be used but is optional.
2" - 3 " foam square or Clover Felting Brush (optional). This will be your working surface for needle-felting. This will be a small working surface to help you better shape your beads.
Size 24 Tapestry Needle
Small towel or bead board (optional) to lay your beads out on.
Scissors
Optional - if you have a crimping bead tool, bring it.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Also, if you have a TV tray or small table and folding chair bring them along. We have tables and chairs but, depending on how many show up, we may not have enough.
